Lighting up Circular Quay for Vivid Sydney
Published 27 May 2019
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - Plenary is helping to illuminate Sydney’s iconic Circular Quay as part of the Vivid Sydney light, music and ideas festival.
Developed in partnership with Cundall, Richard Crookes Constructions and Onelight Australia, the Habit/At exhibition highlights and challenges Australia’s reliance on plastic (Australia uses 3.2 billion plastic bags and 118,000 tonnes of plastic water bottles each year).
The external lighting for the ‘room’ activation multiplies in the reflective surrounds, emphasising the longevity of plastic waste.
Inside, responsive, motion-triggered lighting reveals thousands of discarded plastic items, information on the effect this waste is causing, and ways to change our plastics habits.
Now in its eleventh year, Vivid Sydney is the largest festival of light, music and ideas in the Southern Hemisphere, lighting up Sydney and surrounds for three weeks during May and June each year.
Circular Quay is the epicentre of activity during the festival, as the gateway to many of the city’s attractions as well as a major transport node serviced by trains, buses and Sydney’s famous ferries.
Habit/At is situated in front of the AMP Capital building and is available for viewing 6-11pm from Friday 24 May until Saturday 15 June.
