London, UK – Plenary has been awarded Sponsor/Developer of the Year and the High Capacity Metro Trains project has won Best Transit Project and the top prize - the Projects Grand Prix - at the annual Partnerships Awards.

The awards were presented at a ceremony in London overnight.

This is the second time a project has won the top prize, with the Sydney Metro Northwest project winning the Projects Grand Prix in 2015.

Run by international publication Partnerships Bulletin, the annual awards recognise and reward outstanding achievement in public-private partnerships across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australasia.

This year’s awards attracted more than 100 entries.

Accepting the award, Plenary CEO Paul Oppenheim said 2016 was another successful year for Plenary.

“In Australia we achieved the on-time completion of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, signed extensions on two of our projects, Gold Coast Light Rail and Melbourne Convention Centre, and achieved financial close on the High Capacity Metro Trains project,” Mr Oppenheim said.

“Looking ahead, we are excited about the upcoming pipeline of projects thanks to strong government planning in the region, and hope to continue our success as further project opportunities arise.”

The accolades continue for the High Capacity Metro Trains project, which has also recently been awarded Asia Pacific PPP Deal of the Year at the 2016 Infrastructure Investor Awards and Asia Pacific Rail Deal of the Year at the 2016 PFI Awards.
