Plenary shortlisted for Queensland schools project

BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND – Plenary Group’s Edvantage consortium has been shortlisted to deliver 10 new schools for the Queensland State Government.

The new schools will be procured through a public private partnership model that will see a private consortium contracted to finance, design, construct and maintain the package of schools.

The Queensland Government has announced that the schools will be built to meet growing student demand in Queensland’s hot growth hot spots. The new schools will be built in Pimpama, Burpengary, Pallara, Ripley Valley, Springfield, Griffin, Bellbird Park, Caboolture and Redbank Plains.

The Government announced that the 10 new schools will consist of two secondary and eight primary schools, catering for up to 10,800 students during peak periods of enrolment.

The Government announced that schools will employ up to 540 teachers and 130 non-teaching positions, with the first schools expected to be open for the commencement of the 2015 academic year.

The Edvantage consortium is made up:

  • Plenary Group: Project sponsor, financial arranger and equity investor
  • Watpac Construction: Building contractor
  • Palisade Investment Partners: Equity investor
  • Delta FM Australia: Facilities management

The Government expects the project to generate around 1,700 jobs a year, mostly in the construction sector.The request for binding bid process will commence by the middle of the year with the successful proponent expected to be confirmed by the end of the year.
