Plenary Living has successfully commissioned the first stage of the Single Living Environment and Accommodation Precinct Phase 2 (LEAP2) at Townsville’s Lavarack Barracks.

Lavarack Barracks Stage 1 will accommodate up to 272 Australian Defence Force personnel and has been made available on schedule to the Commonwealth Department of Defence. Plenary Group Director, Mr Ray Wilson, paid tribute to the Plenary Living team and its construction partner Watpac for delivering the project to a high quality specification, on-time and on-budget.

“The Plenary team have been relentless in driving to the completion date and our construction partner in Townsville, Watpac, deserve great credit for maintaining a positive 'can do' approach to overcoming any difficulties they encountered along the way”, Mr Wilson said.

Lavarack Barracks Stage 1 is the first of seventeen packages to be completed as part of a major investment in on-base accommodation by the Department of Defence. The investment will see new, vastly improved on-base accommodation units delivered in every mainland Australian State and Territory.

In its entirety, LEAP 2 is a 33 year contract for the finance, design, construction, operation and maintenance of 3,015 permanent units on 14 Defence bases across Australia.

The Single LEAP project is designed to improve the standard of accommodation by providing studio-style units for single personnel required to live on base.
