We are seeking a proactive and driven individual to join our Asset Management team in Melbourne as a Commercial Manager for an 18-month contract.
Working within our roads upgrade project team, based in Spotswood, west of Melbourne, you will be responsible for both legal and commercial aspects of the project.
This includes documentation management, reporting requirements and appropriate escalation of issues.
Be responsible for actively managing the commercial and contractual arrangements in respect of interactions with Key Subcontractors, the State, and other related project stakeholders
Implement an effective contract management structure during the Delivery Phase and ensure compliance by consortium members
Meet project reporting deadlines and due dates
Manage, track, control and report on compliance in respect to commercial, financial, legal and contractual arrangements and interactions
Coordinate regular board and senior management status and contractual, financial and legal compliance reporting relating to activities and interactions
Together with finance staff, prepare and manage detailed annual budgets and business plans, and regularly review them with the Project Delivery Director
Work closely with the asset management financial team to provide management reports to the CEO, partnership committee and financiers and to ensure compliance with all necessary financial reporting requirements
Advising and drafting legal correspondence
The ideal candidate is proactive in identifying issues and offering workable solutions.
You will demonstrate resilience and commitment to the project and are able to build strong working relationships with colleagues and external parties in a matrixed project environment.
You will have:
5-6 years’ experience post-qualification in a commercial legal environment
Experience in managing all legal considerations in a major construction project
Working within a complex project or organisational environment
Ability to meet project deadlines
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Organised with the ability to prioritise tasks balancing day-to-day operational needs with longer term project requirements
Experience in a PPP environment or complex contractual structures is desirable, along with a practical understanding of how large engineering projects work
